Legitam tags are built to ISO/IEC 15693 (NFC-V, Type 5), ISO/IEC 14443-A, and ISO/IEC 18000-63 / EPC Gen2v2, ensuring interoperability with standard NFC and RAIN RFID readers worldwide and resistance to cloning across both close-range and long-range scanning environments.
Each item's chip carries a non-fungible digital record covering its serial number, origin, materials, and manufacturing history, which travels with the product for its entire lifecycle, including resale. It works as a tamper-proof certificate of authenticity for the owner and a verified provenance record for the brand, useful for warranty, repair, and resale processes.
AI on its own isn't treated as the core authentication method, since purely software-based detection still falls short of full certainty. Instead, Legitam uses AI to power the consumer-facing styling and recommendation engine and to surface aggregated, anonymized trend data for brands, while the hardware layer (NFC and RFID) handles the actual authentication.
